Hi, I’m Kalila, the name behind What a Cupcake! What started as a simple hobby—baking cupcakes for friends and family—quickly turned into something much bigger. After hearing “you should sell these!” one too many times, I finally decided to turn my passion into a business.

I’m a self-taught baker with over 10 years of hands-on experience in the kitchen, but I like to think the love for baking was passed down from my mom, who has been whipping up homemade treats since before I was born. While cupcakes are where I started (and yes, they’re still a crowd favorite!), I’ve grown into so much more.

These days, I’m known for my bakery-style cookies that are as bold and unique as they are delicious. I started baking and selling my cookies as a way to bring in extra money for my family. My local community loved it, always excited for the next cookie drop, or new flavor I have added to the menu. I truly believe I wouldn’t even be a business if it weren’t for the people who show up and not only support but absolutely love my cookies! From custom cookies to wedding cakes and dessert tables, I pour creativity, care, and a whole lot of flavors into everything I make.

I believe that dessert should do more than just taste good—it should create memories, spark joy, and make people feel special. Whether it’s a cookie shared over coffee or a wedding cake centerpiece, I bake with intention, using quality ingredients and a whole lot of heart. Every bite should feel like a celebration.
